ReelWorld is committed to nurturing and celebrating talented artists in the film and video industry and investing in their future. ReelWorld Film Festival recognizes individuals within the film and video industry who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to their craft with awards that acknowledge their achievements. Thanks to the unprecedented generosity of this year’s sponsors and donors, ReelWorld Film Festival is pleased to provide over $40,000 in cash and prizes to the winners.


Tonya Lee Williams Award for Outstanding Canadian Feature


NOW AND FOREVER

NOW & FOREVER is a powerful romantic drama about cross-cultural love, prejudice and eternal commitment that echoes sentiments from ROMEO AND JULIET with a hint of GHOST.

    NFB Award for Outstanding Canadian Documentary


    SPIRIT OF THE DRAGON

    In SPIRIT OF THE DRAGON, Jean recounts the various tales that shaped her life for director Gil Gauvreau, who mixes historical accounts with haunting imagery to drive home the importance of this part of Canadian history.

  • $1,000 in cash

    Outstanding Canadian Short Film Award


    YIN YIN / JADE LOVE

    YIN YIN / JADE LOVE explores the emotional impact of what will likely be Wong's last visit with her grandmother, turning from childhood memories to a voyage of discovery of the intricate web of long-buried family secrets.

    ReelWorld Industry Angel Award

    The ReelWorld Industry Angel Award is given by ReelWorld Film Festival’s Board of Directors. It recognizes organizations and/or individuals that make significant contributions the Canadian entertainment industry. This year we honour Andrew Cardozo, Commissioner, CRTC.


    Star! ReelChoice Audience Award


    THE BEAT

    THE BEAT is the story of Flip (Rahman Jamaal), an aspiring musician who’s forced into a hard situation after his brother is brutally stabbed in an alleyway in South Central L.A.

    This award is presesnted to the film or video maker that receives the highest number of votes from audiences during the festival. The recipient of this award will be profiled by Star! Ballots are provided at each screening.
